In this blog, I’ll break down the five most important UK STEM admission tests that can determine your admission success—and how I help students around the world prepare for them through strategic, personalized tutoring.
🔢 1. MAT – Mathematics Admissions Test
- Used by: Oxford, Imperial College London, University of Warwick (for some courses)
- Required for: Mathematics, Computer Science, and joint degrees (e.g. Math & Stats, CS & Philosophy)
- Format:
- 2.5-hour paper
- Section A: Short multiple-choice questions
- Section B: Long-form mathematical problems
- When?: Early November (register by mid-October)
- Difficulty: Requires problem-solving beyond A-level / IB / ISC, but no knowledge beyond pure math at school level
